Get involved

You can support Danish Forestry Extensions' (DFE's) activities either as a person, a foundation, or company. You can collaborate with DFE through voluntary work, donations, or strategic partnerships. Project cooperation with DFE will support four thematic Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education (4), Climate Action (13), Life on Land (15), and Partnership for the Goals (17). This is done by supporting DFEs existing work to:

  • Build up independent civil societies to secure responsible Natural Resource Management
  • Organize smallholder farmers in forest and natural resource user associations
  • Establish tree based income generation for social and economic livelihood improvements
  • Promote and strengthen environmental education in schools and universities

New project ideas

DFE is always on the lookout for new projects and strategic partnerships. You can read more about the possibilities associated with a strategic partnership with DFE at the bottom of this page.

Currently we are working on designing the following projects, which could have potential for strategic partnership involvement with your organization:

Avoid humanitarian crisis through sustainable fuel supply in Uganda

Build a stable, market-based value chain for production of bio-briquettes as an alternative to charcoal and firewood in Bidibidi, one of the biggest refugee settlements in Uganda.
Impacts: Mitigation of social conflicts between refugees and host communities over access to cooking fuel. Reduce environmental and climatic consequences of deforestation by providing access to wood from planted woodlots and bio-briquettes at completive prices.

Addresses the Sustainable Development Goals 1, 5, 7 and 13.

Business perspective: promotion of green Danish know-how and technology i.e. related to trash collection, urban- and school gardens, water collection etc.

Strategic partnerships

A strategic partnership with DFE contributes to

  • Strengthen the social and environmental company profile
  • Support the business and product development, including securing responsible product sourcing
  • Gaining access to professional expertise in international development projects
  • Actively engage the employees in social, educational, and environmentally relevant development activities
  • Help communicate the company's CSR engagement strategically by gaining access to stories from the field

For more information contact Flemming Sehested, Director or Vibe Jensen, Business Developer

A strategic partnership with DFE allows companies to integrate their CSR and business profile with DFEs international activities and/or make use of our professional expertise in responsible natural resource management, afforestation, carbon sequestration, FSC® and PEFC certification, GIS etc. DFE also offers professional technical forestry knowledge, experience with organization of farmers, stakeholder involvement, geographical context knowledge and design of interacctive environmental education programs.

As a partner, DFE contributes to improving the social and environmental elements of the value chain and integrate the 12th Sustainable Development Goal: Responsible Consumption and Production, in the CSR and business profile. One entry point is to improve the value chain of internationally sourced products such as wood, fruits or NTFP to include smallholding farmers in the production units and secure responsible production of the raw materials. Another option is to design and intergrate interactive environmental education of local communities to increase awareness and integrate children and youth in natural resource management.
