Bachelor Thesis about the Acacia plantations at the DFE "More Trees" Project in Vietnam

In March and April 2019, Bachelor Student Mikkel Gantzler visited the agricultural collective of the “More Trees” project in Hà Tinh in the Northern part of Vietnam. The project visit was facilitated by DFE, who had assisted Mikkel with information, contacts, and technical equipment in preparation of his study tour.

IGN Science

Mikkel is a student at the Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management (IGN Science) at the University of Copenhagen. The Copenhagen based office of the DFE secretariat is situated in the same building as IGN Science. Thus, the DFE network includes the researchers and students from the university, as we share the same interests in forests, climate, and nature. So for DFE, assisting a student wishing to conduct research for his Bachelor Thesis in Vietnam, was a natural continuation of the collaboration with the university.

Acacia plantations

The aim of Mikkel's project visit was to conduct research of the Acacia plantations in the Hà Thinh area. Among other observations, he also comments on the economic challenges of the farmers and suggests that interest free loans might potentially solve some of the problems. You can study the presentation of Mikkel’s Bachelor thesis through the link below.

The photo above shows Mikkel with Trung, Manager of the "More Trees" cooperative in Hà Thin, and Que, the Project Coordinator. They were both an immense help and assistance to Mikkel during his research.

Take-over of CISU's Instagram

In the two coming weeks, DFE will take over the CISU Instagram account at www.instagram.com/cisudk. Here we will - through images and text - tell the story about Mikkel's work and studies in Hà Thin Province. - After the take-over of the CISU Instagram account, DFE will continue publishing images and photos from our work and partners at our own DFE Instagram account: www.instagram.com/danishforestryextension - Do come by and keep us company there!
